Hull FC will strengthen their spine further ahead of next year, and after bringing in a new full-back and scrum-half, have now added a new hooker.
Off-contract Catalans Dragons hooker Alrix Da Costa will make the move from Perpignan to West Hull, after penning a deal to join what will be Steve McNamara’s squad next year.
Joining the Dragons under McNamara in 2015, the pair will reunite as the French international departs the South of France after 11 seasons and 165 appearances to date.
Hull haven’t yet confirmed the deal, but a statement released by Catalans has revealed where Da Costa’s next destination will be.
In terms of a replacement for Catalans, they are reportedly interested in former NRL Grand Final winner Sam Verrills of the Gold Coast Titans, whilst there is also uncertainty over whether Kruise Leeming will stay at the club longer than his one-year loan spell.
“After more than 10 years with the Dragons, I felt the need to experience something different for myself and my family,” Da Costa said in the statement.
“It wasn’t an easy decision, but I will take away nothing but great memories that will stay with me forever, as well as friendships that will last a lifetime. This club will always be my club at heart. I would like to thank Bernard for all these years, as well as all the players and staff I have had the chance to work alongside throughout my career.
“Of course, I want to thank the supporters, who have always been there through the good times and the bad. There are still five games to go, and I want to finish strongly for my club.”
Da Costa will link up with fellow new recruits Bailey Hodgson and Daly Cherry-Evans at the club, the latter of which was announced last night. Leigh loose forward Isaac Liu is another that is reported to have signed for the club.
