Hull FC star signing Jayden Okunbor sent out on loan again

Hull FC have again allowed Jayden Okunbor to head to Bradford Bulls in a short-term loan move.

This comes just a week after the Black and Whites recalled him from his initial loan with the Bulls, in a puzzling turn of events.

He was one of four big-name signings that Hull FC brought to Super League ahead of this season, signing from Canterbury Bulldogs.

Nu Brown and Franklin Pele have already left the club, meaning Herman Ese’ese is the only one of the four that has been at the club consistently throughout the season.

Despite starting a number of games in the second row in NRL last season, he struggled to impress for Hull FC, and was allowed to head to the Bulls in May, where he immediately impressed on debut against Sheffield Eagles.

In a move that Bradford Bulls head coach Eamon O’Carroll called “hugely disappointing”, he was recalled to Hull FC last week, despite the first-team having no fixture scheduled due to the international test.

He didn’t feature for the reserves, and is now back with the Bulls for their game against Toulouse Olympique on Saturday, bringing into question the reason that he was recalled in the first place.

Okunbor has scored three tries in his five games for Bradford, and helped them in their rise up the table to fourth.

Playing in the centres and on the wing, he made a real impact – and will now be up against new signing Max Lehmman for a spot on the wing.

Franklin Pele, who debuted last week against Dewsbury Rams, will also be able to play alongside his former Hull FC teammate.

The victors of Saturday’s clash will finish the round above their opponents, as they are level on 18 points, and could leapfrog Sheffield Eagles, who are second on 20.
