Following the confirmed exit of Davy Litten at the end of the season, interim Hull FC coach Andy Last has opted not to comment on who his replacement could be.
Homegrown talent Litten will depart the MKM Stadium and move to Wakefield Trinity for 2027, signing a four-year deal to join Daryl Powell’s side.
He becomes Trinity’s latest signing, with the club already announcing the likes of Cameron Smith (Leeds), Roger Tuivasa-Sheck (NZ Warriors) and Emre Guler (St George Illawarra) ahead of the new season.
What his exit means for Hull FC remains uncertain, and at present, Last doesn’t want to speculate on who will be Hull FC’s number three next season.
“[I’m] pleased for Davy, it’s going to be a good move for him,” Last said in his weekly press conference. “Disappointed for obviously us as a club as he’s someone who has come through our system.
“I think it’s an opportunity for Davy and a business club decision which works for both parties. Wakefield are happy with the player that they’ve acquired and we’re comfortable with Davy accepting a deal with Wakefield. It’s amicable on both sides.
“Davy’s been a good servant for us. I know the type of player that he is, he’ll be fully committed till the end of the season. He’s always been a fully committed, enthusiastic character and, he’s a good player. Like I say, it’s a deal which has worked for all parties.”
What could the centre position look like for Hull FC in 2027?
In terms of how that move has affected recruitment for 2027, Last said that wasn’t his remit. “With regard to next season, I can’t discuss what’s happening next season and that’s something for obviously Richie and Steve to speak about,” he said.
One man who could serve as Litten’s replacement is Jordan Swann, a centre playing in the NRL reserve grade who has been linked to the Black and Whites by Hull Live.
Hull FC had been in for Catalans’ Solomona Faataape but after St Helens signed the strike centre, FC have been forced to pivot elsewhere and it could be that Swann is the man to serve as Litten’s replacement.
Arthur Romano also remains contracted to the club whilst Ed Chamberlain will return from his season-long loan at Bradford, though he is currently out injured.
