Hull FC are reportedly pushing to add Aidan Sezer to their ranks for the 2025 Super League season.
The Black and Whites have already signed one half-back for next season with Jordan Abdull joining the club from cross city rivals Hull KR, while Cade Cust is expected to join the club, too, to provide spine depth. However, following the decision to cut Jake Trueman’s contract short, the club have been actively looking for a replacement.
A host of names have been linked with the club over the last few weeks, with Lachlan Lam one of those they were said to be keen on. However, according to Hull Live, Hull are now pushing to land Sezer from Wests Tigers.
Sezer has been a regular in Benji Marshall’s line up this season, making 17 appearances in a side that has struggled for traction Down Under. The 33-year-old is off contract and the report claims that with Jerome Luai making the move to Wests, Sezer will be allowed to leave the club.
Hull FC are said to have been in contact with the player’s representatives then and it seems the club are confident that a deal can be done, with Sezer spending time alongside the club’s director of rugby Richie Myler during his time at Leeds Rhinos.
Such a move would be a positive one for Hull, who have struggled to field a consistent half-back partnership over the course of the season, and with Sezer being a proven entity in Super League, he would in theory be able to slot seamlessly into the club’s spine.
Sezer, who started his career with Gold Coast Titans and represented Canberra Raiders before moving to England, joined Huddersfield Giants in 2020. He made 25 appearances over two seasons for the Giants before making the short move across West Yorkshire to Leeds Rhinos.
He made 37 outings during his two seasons at the club before moving back to the NRL with Wests.
