Hull FC lost 24-10 to Hull KR this afternoon, meaning they’ve lost three from three derby games in Super League this season.
Hull KR were off the back of a frustrating golden point defeat to Catalans Dragons, while the Black and Whites took Paul Rowley’s Salford Red Devils close in a 22-20 defeat last week.
Therefore, there was some hope of an upset for FC, but they fell behind after just a few minutes and remained behind until the last.
It was a game that saw four yellow cards – two for each side – and interim coach Simon Grix wasn’t happy about Denive Balmforth’s yellow card, saying: “The second one from Denive was dumb. He’d only just gone back on the field and it was a lazy one.
“I’m disappointed with that one because although it would have been hard at 18-10, with 13 on the field we might have been able to get a little bit closer.”
Brad Fash was also shown a yellow card after repeated clashes with try-scorer Elliot Minchella, while the other yellow for the Robins was for Joe Burgess delaying the restart.

Grix after the game was furious – he launched into his opinion of the defence, saying: “I thought our defence was nothing short of pathetic at the beginning of the game.
“It was flimsy, chesty defence rather than using their shoulders to transfer a bit of aggression.”
At one point, before they started to hit back in the second half, Hull KR had scored 100 points without reply at the MKM Stadium in games against the Black and Whites.
Grix continued: “I’m proud of their effort and we’ve been good on that front. They did keep turning up and trying but we’re dumb.
“It’s a recipe for disaster but we keep doing it. Until the boys want to change that and get disciplined about what they’re doing, we’ll have a few more of them to deal with.”
Hull FC will now look to bounce back, but next face a home fixture against top dogs Wigan Warriors before heading to Catalonia, where they face Catalans Dragons.
