Hull FC forward departs for the Championship

Sheffield Eagles are delighted to announce the signing of back-row forward Will Wallis on a one-year deal.

Wallis came through the Hull FC system and progressed to first team training with the Black and Whites during 2021.

Eagles chief Mark Aston was made aware of Wallis’ availability and acted quick to snap up the rising star.

“Will is only 19-years-old and came through the system at Hull, he was full-time there last year,” he commented.

“He is a back-row forward, a big boy with so much potential.

“He is strong and direct with his running. He’s a player we love to work with, he has taken the opportunity to come here and to progress.

“He is working hard in training to establish himself.

“He will be a fierce competitor in training and on the pitch.”

Wallis is thrilled to make the move to South Yorkshire as he looks to break into the Eagles’ first team squad.

“I am very happy to be here,” he said.

“I am looking forward to getting started.

“I was trying to get a new club for the upcoming season so I contacted an agent who got me in touch with Mark.

“We went for a coffee meeting and he said about the new stadium, I thought it was a great opportunity for me to take as it’s an exciting time.”

Wallis explained that he has been in training with the club for almost a month and has got to know the whole squad, despite a later start compared to the rest.

“I have been in for three weeks and I’ve been enjoying my time here.

“It is tough to come in late but all the lads are great, there is a really good atmosphere around the place.

“The atmosphere comes from the new stadium being built and we’re all excited to see what it’ll look like when it is finished.”
