After confirmation of today’s official IMG grades for the 2025 season, Hull FC fans have reacted to the club’s score of 14.51.
IMG grades will dictate the teams in Super League with the top twelve teams confirming their place in the competition. Moreover, every Grade A club will be confirmed within the top flight.
When the preliminary gradings were released this time last year, Hull FC were one of seven Grade A clubs with the Black and Whites just surpassing the 15-point threshold with a score of 15.05.
After a poor 2024 campaign in which they finished 11th, there were concerns among fans that the club would lose that Grade A status with plenty of rugby league fans near unanimous on that.
That expectation became reality today with the IMG grades being confirmed at 10:30 and Hull FC clocking in as the highest-scoring side not to earn a Grade A.
A score of 14.51 represents over half a point lost from the preliminary gradings, something that the club attributed to four key reasons when they shared their own reaction.
Now, it’s the turn of the fans to react and they’re far from impressed.
Hull FC fans react after club loses Grade A status
Fans were generally not very sympathetic with the words ‘disgusting’ and ’embarrassing’ banded about by those who took to social media to react to the score.
KesXIII: A damning indictment of the running of the club over the past 8 years. We get what we deserve.
LordcabbageMK2: The big screen thing is crazy. Other than that it’s fair.
Chris Dicko: As a club you’ve let the supporters down massively. Actually embarrassed us.
Darren Marsh: Embarrassing that a club like us are being downgraded for technicalities and performance.
Joe Staines: Disgusting we have got to this point.
Ricky Daniel: Hull FC should not be anything other than a grade A club. The playing staff and backroom team really need to pull out all the stops next season. In regards to the screens etc that’s an absolute joke, MKM stadium and the facilities are top notch and meet all criteria except IMG.
Prideofull: Championship budget last 4 years deserve to be there.

If the screens are good enough for football, that dwarfs league financially, then they’re good enough. The on field performances have been dire, they deserve to lose points for that. But the club is sustainable far more so than other clubs. IMG grading Wakefield or Castleford as A ratings while playing in 1950 era broken down stadia compared to a modern multi-purpose large capacity sporting arena is laughable. Even as aHull KR fan it’s obvious the MKM is probably the best stadium in the Super League. IMG should be focussed on promoting the sport. It’s like we’re the beloved sport of the Secret Services, you’d only know it’s happening if you’re deeply invested. Even in Hull you’d barely know the sport exists. Any financial issues should primarily be geared to ensure no club goes the way of teams in Union, they lost two(?, three?) clubs to poir financial dealings. Screens aren’t important. How the hell St Helens top the ratings is a mystery, Wigan should have got that award as well. They’re the model for sustainability, Hull KR and Leigh the models for improvement towards the kind of sustainability Wigan enjoy.
