Huddersfield Giants took on Hull FC at the John Smith’s Stadium tonight.
Hull started the brighter of the two sides, breaking the deadlock with Jack Walker who went in off a Will Smith pass.
Smith was in the thick of it, being sent to the sinbin after Connor Wynne scored for the Black and Whites to make it 10-0 at the break.
Tui Lolohea grabbed one back for the Giants straight after half-time with Will Pryce adding the extras to make it 10-6.
But, the Black and Whites were in a rampant mood and Ellis Longstaff was the next over the line for Hull as Brett Hodgson’s men extended their lead to 16-6.
Theo Fages brought the Giants back to within four with 17 minutes left and the Giants now had the momentum and they levelled proceedings through Danny Levi before Pryce added the extras to send Huddersfield into the lead for the first time.
18-16 up and Huddersfield had just enough to end the game as Levi burrowed over with a minute left to seal the two points, but it had been an incredibly tricky fixture.
Hull were full worth their lead for most of the game, but, in the end, Huddersfield’s prowess just shone through with Danny Levi and Tui Lolohea enjoying stellar performances as the Giants increased their stranglehold on the top four with a 22-16 win.
The Black and Whites, however, will have took a lot from the effort in what was a notoriously tricky fixture to get anything out of.
