Hull FC and Leigh Leopards have named their 21-man squads for Sunday’s meeting with the Black and Whites missing over a dozen players, whilst Leigh have made a call on one of their own stars.
Leigh Leopards finally played their game in hand when they faced Wigan on Tuesday in a 28-6 loss that saw Wigan dominate them in the first-half.
Adrian Lam’s side will look to get back to winning ways against a Hull FC team that has been decimated through injury, whilst also having three senior players suspended.
Simon Grix has turned to his academy with three players named in a 21-man squad for the first time, two being academy prospects and the other being loanee Sam Eseh Jr.
Hull FC are still yet to win on the road in 2024 but would have to overcome immense odds to do so on Sunday, despite Leigh’s fatigue due to their short turnaround.
Leigh Leopards Team News
Adrian Lam has been forced into a major change with Matt Moylan dropping out after playing on Tuesday night. The Australian had been described as ’50/50′ heading into the game but he’ll now miss Sunday’s clash.
After the game on Tuesday evening, Lam had confirmed that Moylan would miss the weekend fixture against Hull FC as he conceded that the decision to play the Australian had backfired.
“He was 50-50 to play with some rib cartilage issue and it was his call to play in the end so we ran with that,” Lam said after the game, per Love Rugby League.
“But roughly 15 minutes in we knew it wasn’t good so we just had to hang onto that until half-time. It was a bit of a gamble that didn’t pay off. We wanted to see if he could get through that but it just got worse as it went on so we just hung on until half-time.”
He then confirmed that “he won’t play this weekend” whilst another who missed out is Gareth O’Brien due to concussion protocols. Leigh are boosted in that Tom Amone does return after passing through his protocols.
