Warrington Wolves have recalled forward Max Wood from his month-long loan from Hull FC after picking up an injury in their forwards.
Wood, who has featured excellently in two games for the Black and Whites, departs the MKM Stadium early due to parent club Warrington requiring his services.
In games against Huddersfield and Wakefield, Wood has made 76 tackles with just four misses and ran for a total of 178 metres with ball in hand. Those stats made him quickly become a fan favouite at the club, but he now departs East Yorkshire to return back to Warrington.
That is because Wire prop Toafofoa Sipley picked up an injury in Thursday’s defeat to Leeds Rhinos, meaning Wood has a chance in the first team side.
With Luke Yates, Adam Holroyd, Sam Stone and Joe Philbin all out injured, the Wolves are already down on forward troops, so the recall of Wood makes perfect sense, especially when he is showing some excellent form at Super League level.
