Hull FC have wrapped up their pre-season business and confirmed the signing of a recently released Super League forward.
The Black and Whites already had signed a total of nine players ahead of the 2025 season, a figure topped by only Leigh Leopards (10) and Wakefield Trinity (11), however, they have now confirmed the signing of their tenth player.
Hugo Salabio, recently released by Super League rivals Huddersfield Giants, has penned a deal with Hull FC ahead of the upcoming 2025 season with the Frenchman committing for both 2025 and 2026.
Earlier this week, the 24-year-old was released by Huddersfield alongside Harvey Livett with Salabio quickly coming to the attention of Hull FC.
FC moved quickly to ensure they got their man with Salabio now set to join a forward pack that has been bolstered in recent months with mid-season signings such as Yusuf Aydin, Jed Cartwright and more recently former Leigh Leopards man Ollie Holmes.
Hull FC sign released French international Hugo Salabio
Eagle-eyed fans had spotted that Salabio was in an image of the playing group shared by Hull FC winger Davy Litten on Instagram – a post that mysteriously disappeared but has since reappeared after the announcement of his signing.
Confirmation of his arrival came officially via the Super League club, who released the following statement: “Hull FC are delighted to announce the signing of Hugo Salabio from Huddersfield Giants for the 2025 Betfred Super League season.
“The French international forward has signed a two-year deal with the Black & Whites having secured a release from the West Yorkshire side earlier this week to take up a new opportunity with the club.
“The 24-year-old former Toulouse Olympique, Catalans Dragons and Wakefield Trinity prop adds some important depth to John Cartwright’s forward options in 2025, alongside the likes of Herman Ese’ese, Ligi Sao, Jack Ashworth, Brad Fash and Yusuf Aydin.”
The six-foot and four-inch tall prop has 13 Super League appearances to his name but could find opportunities easier to come by in the Hull FC pack.
Speaking on his move, the French international said: “I am excited to join Hull FC. This is an amazing opportunity for me to continue my development, and I can’t wait to represent this historic club.”
