Hull FC are flying high in Super League and the Black and Whites have now confirmed key development plans for the MKM Stadium.
With their torrid 2024 season being quickly forgotten on account of their lightning start in 2025 under new ownership, coaching and with a new-look team, the club have also confirmed that there will be changes coming to the MKM Stadium.
The Black and Whites have revealed that they will be implementing safe standing at the stadium with the work to begin from the end of April and take place across the early summer period.
Over 10% of the stadium’s seats will be converted to safe standing with a total of 2,700, split across both home and away areas, with Hull Live revealing that the work will be completed at a cost of over £100,000 in a reported “substantial six-figure sum”.
A club statement confirmed the news of the decision, revealing: “Hull FC can confirm that safe standing will be installed at the MKM Stadium during our mid-season break from the Stadium this summer.”
Hull FC confirm major stadium development to begin after Wigan Warriors clash
That mid-season break away from the stadium means Hull FC won’t play at home between April 27th, when they host Wigan Warriors, and June 13th, when they host Castleford Tigers.
As such, John Cartwright’s side will find themselves on the road for Rounds 10, 11, 12 and 13 of Super League despite already playing five games on the road so far.
The club statement confirmed that consultations with the Sports Ground Safety Authority and the Stadium’s Safety Advisory Group led to the changes being signed off on.
Of the 2,700 seats to be converted, 1,574 will be in home areas and 1,105 in the away section. The top 12 rows (U to FF) of blocks N1 to N5 in the North Stand and E3 and E4 in the East Stand, along with the northern half of block NW, will become home safe standing sections.
All work will be done between April 27th and June 13th meaning no games will be affected at that fans will first have a chance to see the developments in Round 14 when Hull FC host Castleford Tigers.
The club also confirmed: “North Stand members are able to take advantage of the new safe standing areas as part of their 2025 membership, or choose to sit in existing seats.
“Supporters who sit in block E4 who would not like to sit in the new safe standing areas are able to move seat free of charge – please email membership@hullfc.com to arrange a seat move or to view alternate, available seats across the MKM Stadium.”
Affected fans will be contacted by the club in the coming days.
