Hull FC have added to their pack numbers with the signing of Sam Eseh on loan from Wigan Warriors.
The prop will be with the Black and Whites for the remainder of the season and could be set to make his debut for the club this weekend against Leigh Leopards. Eseh joins a depleted forward unit that has recently been boosted by the loan arrival of Leon Ruan from Leeds Rhinos, too.
Eseh is yet to make his debut for the Warriors, but at the age of 21, he has picked up experience away from the Brick Community Stadium. The forward spent much of the last two months on loan at Leeds Rhinos, where he made five appearances in total.
He filled a hole at Headingley and helped Brad Arthur claim his first win in charge of the club before returning to Wigan. However, he made one appearance for Castleford Tigers in May and spent last season with Wakefield Trinity, as they struggled to find traction in Super League.
Stints at Barrow and Featherstone Rovers came before then and he’ll be hoping to put that experience to good use as he pushes to help Hull, who have won just three games all season, to end the season on a positive note.
The Black and Whites find themselves short of options in the pack after seeing injuries pile up at the MKM Stadium. Simon Grix was without Herman Ese’ese, Jack Ashworth, Jed Cartwright and Nick Staveley through injury on Saturday, while Ligi Sao missed the game through suspension, too.
Adding to their woes was the absence of King Vuniyayawa, who joined from Salford Red Devils on loan last month but has now been ruled out for the season with an ankle issue.
As such, the signings of Ruan and Eseh come as a big boost for Hull FC over the remaining seven games of the campaign.
