Hull FC confirm friendly against Super League opposition at alternative ground

Hull FC

Hull FC will take on Huddersfield Giants in pre-season for a game that will act as Brad Fash’s testimonial.

The Black and Whites will host the contest but it will not be played at the MKM Stadium. Instead Hull will make the short trip to Brantingham Park, the home of local rugby union side Hull Ionians to take on the Giants and celebrate Fash’s testimonial year.

It’s a move FC have made in the past and before Covid, the Black and Whites took on London Broncos in a friendly at the same venue. Brantingham Park has a capacity listed at around 1,500, with 240 seats available.

The contest will be held on Sunday, January 25, with kick off at 2pm. And, while Fash will be the man of the moment, the afternoon will provide Hull fans with a chance to catch a glimpse of some of the club’s new recruits.

The likes of Jake Arthur, Sam Lisone, Connor Bailey, Arthur Romano and Joe Batchelor have already arrived at the club and John Cartwright will be hoping that they’ll be ready for action come the end of January.

Luke Robinson’s side haven’t made as many recruits but the likes of Asher O’Donnell, Olly Russell and Chris Patolo could be involved on the day, too.

The game is the first confirmed pre-season contest for the Giants. Hull, though, already have a date with Wigan Warriors booked in. That game will be played at the DW Stadium on February 1 with Liam Marshall’s testimonial being the occasion.

The meeting between Hull FC and Huddersfield will come just a fortnight before both clubs play their first competitive game of the season in the third round of the Challenge Cup. The first round of Super League will follow the week after with the 2026 fixtures to be unveiled on Thursday morning.
