Hull FC boss John Cartwright makes Liam Knight prediction after impressive start to Super League life

Liam Knight will only get better in a Hull FC shirt as he continues to find his feet in Super League, says John Cartwright. Knight has been with the Black and Whites for just over a month now having joined the club at the start of March following the season ending injury Ligi Sao suffered.

The forward, who spent last season with Canterbury Bulldogs, was available after failing to find an NRL club for 2025 and jumped at the chance to sign a deal for the remainder of the season at the MKM Stadium. Since his arrival he has made four appearances for the club and while he is still building up his fitness he has played a key role, with his last two outings being particularly eye catching.

Cartwright is more than pleased with the Australian’s progress so far then, but he believes bigger and better things are still to come from Knight as he settles into life in East Yorkshire.

“He’s just improved every week,” Cartwright told Serious About RL. “I thought last week he was better than the week before and that one was better than the week before that.

“It’s hard to get into the swing of the season when you haven’t had a pre-season as such. If you’re not training in the gym and wrestling, that’s how you get ready for your season. He’s going to keep improving which is a great thing for all of us.

“He came to us reasonably fit cardio wise. It’s more the contact, getting hit, hitting people and getting up off the ground, it’s hard to mimic when you’re training on your own. He’s been hard at that with us.

“I thought last week he was tremendous and he will be better for that experience as well.”

Hull FC take on Hull KR this afternoon for a spot in the Challenge Cup quarter-finals.
