Hull FC boss Brett Hodgson gives honest assessment of Luke Gale and Josh Reynolds

Hull FC went down 36-8 to Catalans Dragons yesterday in a disappointing afternoon for the Black and Whites.

The Yorkshire side never looked like troubling the Dragons whose halfback Mitchell Pearce was in fine form as they blew away their opponents.

Luke Gale and Josh Reynolds have come under scrutiny in 2022 due to inconsistency and the number of disciplinary charges and they were second best again with Pearce running the show.

And, when asked why Hull’s halfbacks weren’t firing on all cylinders at present, Hodgson told Hull Live: “We’ll keep looking at that.

“I think they’re both trying hard at the moment but it didn’t click today so we’ll make sure we look at that and see how everyone around them can benefit as well.

“They’re not the only two, we had many players out there that were under their best today. They know they need to step up. The reality is that we don’t have a plethora of players coming back who are able to go into any position. We need to keep working hard and we need to come through this.”

It leaves the Black and Whites looking over their shoulder at potential challengers to their fifth-placed spot in Super League, whilst the gap between them and fourth-placed Huddersfield Giants now stands at five points.
