Hull FC 10-42 St Helens: Player ratings and major talking points

Despite having already won the Challenge Cup, the Saints we’re in relentless mood in Hull conjuring up a Champion performance to batter the Black and Whites 42-10.

Major Talking Points:

1. Sin bin stunts Hull fightback

As the second half started, Hull were really in the contest. A Bureta Faraimo try shortened the Saints advantage down to just six points and Hull were in with a real shout of causing the upset. However that all unraveled when Jordan Johnstone was sent to the sin bin proving that you can’t give the Saints any kind of advantage.

2. Roby the game breaker for St Helens

In Johnstone’s absence it was his opposite number James Roby who came up the game breaking moment to seal the game when his kick set up a try for Kyle Amor. He continually defies the odds to still be a key player at 35 and St Helens’ title defence will depend on his form especially now that Theo Fages is on the side lines.

3. Welsby hat-trick again

Hull FC must be sick of the sight of Jack Welsby. He’s now undone the Black and Whites twice this season with two hat-tricks. Tonight, he was simply superb and showed his class with three unique tries. With Lachlan Coote headed to Hull KR, he’ll inherit the number one jersey next year and take Super League by storm.
