Hull FC 10-27 Catalans Dragons: Player ratings and major talking points

A return to the sport for supporters, after 14 months of waiting, included the “Old Faithful” at the KCOM stadium as Hull FC hosted Catalans Dragons. However, it proved to be a disappointing night for the Hull fans.

Major Talking Points:

1. Catalans Dragons’ Bounce back

They suffered an exit in the Betfred Challenge Cup but the Catalans Dragons responded with a clinical second half performance to secure a win over Hull FC at the KCOM stadium. The form book certainly went out the window as the Dragons returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion.

2. Challenge Cup hangover for Hull FC

They returned to the city of Hull as heroes last week but against Catalans, they left the KCOM stadium as pretenders in comparison. Maybe the old “Challenge Cup hangover” is their excuse as Hull suffered back-to-back defeats in the Betfred Super League for the first time this season.

3. England full-back battle

Last time out, Jake Connor faced off against fellow England full-back rival Zak Hardaker, and lost. Today he again was defeated by another in Sam Tomkins. Tomkins produced a clinical display, helping to overturn a 10-4 deficit to win 27-10.
