Hull derby marred by on-field fights as two shown cards

Players fight in the Hull derby

It has been a great first-half from a Hull KR point of view, as they lead the Hull derby 18-0 at half-time.

It took just three minutes for Sauaso Sue to put the Robins ahead, and they haven’t looked back since.

Mikey Lewis came up big to score a second try, and put any nerves to rest for the Robins.

Matty Storton’s try furthered their advantage, and within the first 20 minutes, they had a three-score lead.

After the first 20, Hull FC seemed to sort themselves out somewhat, and although they rarely got close to the KR line, they ensured they didn’t concede again.

It was quite a low-quality second 20 minutes.

However, the game has been marred by multiple on-field scuffles, which has eventually seen Brad Fash and Elliot Minchella given yellow cards by Chris Kendall.

Throughout the first half, a frustrated Hull FC and fired-up Hull KR meant the game came to blows on occasion.

Chris Kendall was very clear that although he understood the game was a Hull derby, it wasn’t good enough that players were all piling in, calling the captains of both sides over to tell them so.

Particularly getting involved, as always, was Mikey Lewis, who was perhaps lucky to stay on the field after screaming in Chris Kendall’s ear.

Tensions continued to heat up, as Jack Brown took Jack Charles late, giving the home side good field position.

However, just before half-time, Brad Fash took exception to Elliot Minchella celebrating a resulting Hull FC mistake with gusto, sparking the players to yet again pile in, which saw a player from both sides sent for ten.

Minutes earlier, Fash had tackled Minchella off the ball, giving the Robins a penalty – and that battle may continue when they return to the field.

After causing a scuffle after directly being told off by Kendall, the sin-binning was inevitable.
