Huge transfer “pitched” for Super League star

As the transfer rumour mill continues to swing the likes of Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Warrington Wolves, Hull FC and Hull KR have all made big announcements lately but the work is just beginning.

Recruitment is always fluid and tied up to retention as well. This is true with a lot of clubs around the future of halfbacks.

Leigh Leopards and Salford Red Devils will have to turn to the market if NRL clubs have their way and poach Lachlan Lam and Brodie Croft ahead of 2024.

That is already true of Hull FC with Jake Clifford set to join the North Queensland Cowboys,

So these three clubs could be in the market for halfbacks and that is already true of Leeds and Wigan too. Wigan’s number six Cade Cust is out of contract and now playing as a number nine with Bevan French having to feature as a stand-off.

Meanwhile both Blake Austin and Aidan Sezer are out of contract at the end of the year.

There have been reports saying Austin is considering options outside of Leeds but the club appear determined to keep the former Warrington Wolves star.

As for his former Canberra Raiders teammate Aidan Sezer, he is set to leave Leeds according to reports.

He joined Leeds on a two year deal after an impressive stint at Huddersfield Giants being nominated for the Man of Steel in 2020.

His time at Headingley has highlights such as scoring winning tries against Castleford Tigers and Catalans Dragons last year but he has dealt with injuries too.

He did help Leeds reach the Grand Final but had to sit out the final at Old Trafford when a late hit from former Canberra Raiders teammate John Bateman knocked him out ruling him out of the decider with St Helens.

Leeds went on to lose in his absence with Phil Clarke recently suggesting that this was because he couldn’t feature.

Though he has been superb in recent weeks, especially stepping up against Salford Red Devils last week in the absence of Blake Austin, he is headed home.

Now it is being reported down under that a move for Sezer to Wests Tigers has been “pitched.”

So could we see Sezer link up with John Bateman again?
