Huge rugby league transfer update relating to Hull KR

Hull KR head coach Willie Petes speaks to the press

A major rugby league news line has broken regarding a reported transfer that Super League leaders Hull KR will make.

Whilst the Robins are still flying high at the top of Super League, they did have their wings clipped on Friday night when they lost at home against Wigan Warriors.

The rematch of last year’s Grand Final had a play-off feel about it as Hull KR sought to move six points clear of their rivals, however, the 28-12 loss meant they finished the night just two points clear.

Despite controlling the game for large parts, Wigan’s ability to ice the key moments showed that the Robins have some way to catch up and one of the ways they may do that is through recruitment.

Hull KR have been among the best rugby league clubs on either side of the equator in their recruitment of late and it has now been reported that they’ve secured a huge signing for 2026.

Huge rugby league transfer update relating to Hull KR

The man in question is Tom Amone, the former Leigh Leopards and Super League Dream Team star.

That’s according to Love Rugby League who have reported that Amone is “increasingly likely” to link up with Hull KR in 2026, making him a massive addition to their pack.

Amone left Leigh to join Canterbury Bulldogs for 2025 but he has just been released by the NRL leaders ahead of an immediate Super League switch.

Per Love Rugby League, that immediate switch will not be to Hull KR but a different Super League side, before the 29-year-old heads to Craven Park for 2026.

Hull KR are currently full on their overseas quota and believed to be full, or incredibly close to, on the salary cap meaning an immediate move could not be done but Willie Peters and Paul Lakin appear to have worked their magic for next season.

One side who won’t be signing Amone for 2025 are Leigh Leopards who, despite previously being reported as ‘leading the chase’, have been ruled out by owner Derek Beaumont who claimed that the club had not been in any negotiations with their former forward.
