Huge NRL star set to make massive Super League move

Leeds Rhinos, Wigan Warriors, Hull FC, Leigh Leopards and Salford Red Devils have questions over halfbacks.

Leeds duo Blake Austin and Aidan Sezer are out of contract as is Wigan Warriors stand off Cade Cust who is transitioning to number nine.

It has all but been confirmed that Jake Clifford is leaving Hull FC at the end of the year joining North Queensland Cowboys.

Leigh Leopards and Salford Red Devils are working hard to keep Lachlan Lam and Brodie Croft respectively.

However, reports are now that one Super League star won’t be headed to the NRL.

May joined the Dragons last season after guiding Penrith Panthers to consecutive Grand Finals winning the 2021 decider having lost in 2020.

He went on to play for Samoa in the Rugby League World Cup but was forced off in game one against England with dislocated hip.

However, he has returned from injury in fine form at Catalans wearing the number six jersey and helping the Dragons to the Super League summit.

That said, his form has clearly sparked interest and NRL club Canterbury Bulldogs were interested in May for 2024.

Sky Sports’ Jenna Brooks reported that the Bulldogs had offered him a multi-year deal.

However, Rugby League Live have now reported this deal has collapsed and he is now available to other Super League clubs.

His teammate Mitchell Pearce will be headed to the NRL to return to Sydney Roosters.

The Dragons have moved to replace him and have been linked with Theo Fages from Huddersfield Giants.

They have now been linked with a huge move for NRL veteran and star man Matt Moylan.

The halfback has made nearly 200 appearances in the NRL including 100 for the Cronulla Sharks.

He joined the club in 2018 after a successful run at Penrith Panthers.

Moylan can play both in the halves and at fullback so is the ideal replacement for Sam Tomkins who is set to retire whilst also helping replace Tyrone May and Mitchell Pearce.

The former New South Wales and Australian representative would be a huge signing, perhaps the biggest of the season and it would be a statement of intent for the Dragons.
