Huge Luke Gale update confirmed

Luke Gale of Wakefield Trinity

Former Leeds Rhinos, Castleford Tigers and Hull FC star Luke Gale was not involved in Wakefield Trinity’s brilliant win over Wigan Warriors.

If you were predicting a drop goal win in golden point for the West Yorkshire side, Gale would have been a safe bet but in his absence that seemed unlikely only for Will Dagger to step up.

Gale a huge signing for Wakefield when he was drafted in mid-season from Keighley Cougars in one of the shocks of the season.

However, it took him a long time to get on the field at Belle Vue and he missed their brilliant win over Leeds.

When he eventually appeared in the white, red and blue of Trinity he was a major success especially against Salford Red Devils guiding Trinity to a statement win and a huge boost in the relegation battle.

Gale appeared to be the missing piece in the club’s race for survival so when he was ruled out ahead of their clash with Wigan, it was seen as a huge blow especially with talk he could be out for the rest of the season.

Wakefield though were able to defeat Wigan without him and the club have also revealed that Gale hadn’t suffered a broken ankle.

Last week, Mark Applegarth confirmed that Gale’s scan on Thursday was positive.

“I don’t want to jump to conclusions but the scan is positive,” said Applegarth on BBC Radio Leeds as he provided a further update, “There’s no structural damage and he’s got a specialist appointment on Monday when we’ll get an estimate time frame for how long he’ll be out.

“I’m just really pleased that there isn’t any structural damage and that we should be able to get him back at some point this year all being well.”

Now the club has released the following update on their injured stars:

Luke Gale – Saw the specialist on Monday, it’s good news as his injury is not as bad as first feared. Should be back in contention for Warrington or Castleford.

Sam Eseh – Is going through concussion protocols but should be cleared to return for next game.

Romain Franco – Progressing as expected.

Jordy Crowther – Hopefully will get a run in with the reserves next week, to prove fitness.
