Today’s Super League Grand Final was watched by the biggest crowd for the event this decade.
A total of 68,173 fans packed Old Trafford for the top-two showdown between Wigan Warriors and Hull KR.
That was the highest Grand Final attendance since 72,827 saw Leeds Rhinos stun league leaders Castleford Tigers in 2017.
The record Grand Final crowd remains 73,512 for Leeds’ win over Wigan which clinched the table nine years ago.
At half-time of the big game, RL Commercial confirmed next year’s final will be played at Old Trafford on Saturday, October 11.
Rhodri Jones, managing director of RL Commercial, said: “The Betfred Super League Grand Final has been a hot ticket in 2024, so we are pleased to be able to confirm the date of the 2025 Grand Final and put tickets on sale, earlier than ever.
“While the supporters of the competing clubs – this year Wigan Warriors and Hull KR – have again bought tickets in their thousands to generate an electric atmosphere, Grand Final weekend in Manchester is now an established part of the British sporting year and an event which attracts growing numbers of neutral supporters and early ticket buyers.
“That’s why we were so pleased to confirm a new agreement with Manchester United securing the future of the Grand Final at Old Trafford until at least 2027, in the knowledge it is the only ground in the north of England with the capacity for the 65,000-plus attendance we have attracted this year.
“We have added an early bird discount, for the Grand Final at Old Trafford as well as Betfred Challenge Cup finals day in June, to make it even more attractive to make an early decision to come back next year.”
