Huddersfield v Hull FC: Predicted line-ups and late injury news

After two closely fought defeats at the hands of Wigan, Huddersfield turn their attentions to Hull FC tonight. The injury-ravaged Giants are desperate for a win to rekindle their season however it’ll be tough against the play-off chasing Hull FC. As for the Black and Whites, it’s been a long time between games owing to a Covid-19 outbreak in their squad. In fact, their last game was against the Giants a month ago.

For Huddersfield, things finally seem to be getting a bit easier. The return of Owen Trout and James Cunningham gives them greater options in the middle of the field and should make for a more natural looking pack. That said, they’re still without a host of first teamers leaving Ian Watson in a quest to find the right balance. Last time out, that took the form of naming Jermaine McGillvary on the bench to offer size whilst playing natural halfback Will Pryce alongside Oliver Russell despite his young age. I could see him doing something similar this week as the Giants look to get back to winning ways.

As for Hull FC, a number of their stars are still absent owing to the virus including Josh Reynolds. That may leave Brett Hodgson forced to name Ben McNamara at stand-off leaving a gaping hole at fullback thanks to the absence of Jake Connor and Connor Wynne. So, Adam Swift, who starred there in the cup against Wigan, could be asked to cover the role. Meanwhile, Hull’s own lack of players could see Hodgson persist with Cameron Scott at second-row after the centre was asked to play their against the Giants in June.
