Huddersfield set to sign Samoan international

Huddersfield are set to wrap up the signing of Samoan international forward James Gavet, according to The Mole.

We reported a while ago that the 29-year-old was set to leave Newcastle Knights for a move to Super League and it is now understood that he will line up for the Giants in 2020.

Gavet is still under contract with the Knights, however they will allow him to leave to take up the contract.

As well as the Knights, Gavet has had spells with Canterbury Bulldogs, Wests Tigers, Brisbane Broncos and New Zealand Warriors, racking up over 70 NRL appearances.

He would become the Giants’ second confirmed signing, after Catalans back rower Kenny Edwards, although the club are close to announcing the capture of Leeds fullback Ashton Golding.
