Huddersfield Giants, Wigan Warriors and Leeds Rhinos dominate Ireland line-up as new Leeds signing features

Team news is in for Ireland vs Jamaica later today as both teams kick start their World Cup campaigns.

Ireland have named nine debutants many of whom are Super League stars.

The back three all have Super League experience with the Senior twins of Huddersfield and Hull KR are on the wings with Richie Myler at fullback.

Leigh’s Ed Chamberlain starts at centre with Wigan bound Toby King joins him. NRL star Luke Keary who has won the NRL title three times starts at six and is joined by Halifax’s Joe Keyes, formerly of Hull KR.

Of Wigan starts at prop Liam Byrne whilst Leeds’ second-rower James Bentley starts with George king captaining the side from loose-forward.

On the bench Leeds bound James McDonnell features after a season spent between a loan spell at Leigh and back at Wigan.

Speaking of Wigan, former Wigan youngster and Huddersfield headed Harry Rushton joins him on the bench.

A win for Ireland is a must if they want to make the quarter-finals with Lebanon also likely pushing for a place in the last eight with New Zealand expected to steamroll through the group.

The Super League experience listed above complimented by the presence of Keary, who won back-to-back titles with Sydney as recently as 2019 will be key.

Keary also won the Man of the Match in the 2018 NRL Grand Final.
