Huddersfield Giants vs Warrington Wolves: Team news, match preview and score prediction

After a painful and controversial defeat to Leeds, it’s vital that Huddersfield shake it off with just two games left in the season to generate the momentum required to succeed in play-off rugby.

They meet Huddersfield for the third time this season on Monday needing to get over Wednesday’s heartache whilst monitoring the fitness of their squad.

As for the Wolves, though they’ve turned the corner a touch recently they’re yet to put together an 80 minute performance which will be the aim come Monday as they build momentum for 2023.

Huddersfield will likely not risk Theo Fages after he copped a head knock on Wednesday and wasn’t brought back on due to his history with head injuries. So, Will Pryce will likely return as may Innes Senior to provide some fresh leg.

As for Warrington, Daryl Clark is a slight doubt after an arm injury on Thursday. We could also see some youngsters like Adam Holroyd, Luke Thomas and Riley Dean figure to provide some energy and give them some more experience.

Tui Lolohea vs Matt Dufty: Matt Dufty has made a real splash since arriving in Super League and scored his first try on Thursday. He’ll be up against one of the in form fullbacks of 2022 in the creative Tui Lolohea. So, who will have the edge in the battle between the creative Lolohea and the explosive Dufty.

Olly Russell vs George Williams: A young organiser will enjoy a real test against the experienced George Williams who after a tough 2022 will be hoping to finish strongly ahead of a big 2023. As for Russell, it’s a chance for him to continue his development as he hopes to be an integral cog in Huddersfield’s Old Trafford bid.

Ian Watson spoke about the need for patience in attack so coming up with that on the back of their always effective process. If they can do that, they should have the tools to win unless Warrington can finally come up with an 80-minute performance.
