Huddersfield Giants v Warrington Wolves squad news as Sam Burgess makes Toby King call

Warrington Wolves Toby King

Warrington Wolves and Huddersfield Giants head coaches Sam Burgess and Luke Robinson have named their 21-man squads for Sunday’s clash at the John Smith’s Stadium. The game will see Burgess come up against his brother Tom, who has been included in the Huddersfield squad and looks set to make his league debut for the club.

Huddersfield are without a number of new additions, though, with Liam Sutcliffe and George King missing out through injury, while Taane Milne is yet to return from Australia. Sam Halsall and Adam Clune are also absent for the Giants.

In more encouraging news, Matty English returns to the Giants’ fold after missing the win at Hunslet in the Cup, while Danny Richardson is also included as he looks to make his first appearance since his loan switch from Hull KR.

Toby King was a doubt for the Wolves this week, but the centre has been named in the squad by Burgess and could be involved. Sam Powell has also been included after going under the knife in the off-season.

Lachlan Fitzgibbon hasn’t made the cut, though. The forward struggled with a troublesome shoulder injury last season and his game time is expected to be managed going forward with Burgess suggesting he could be set to return to the fold next week.

Leon Hayes and Connor Wrench are the only other major absentees for Warrington, due to their respective hamstring and knee issues.
