Huddersfield Giants v Wakefield Trinity line-ups as injuries force Giants shake-up

Huddersfield Giants

Luke Robinson has been forced into reshuffling his Huddersfield Giants side once again due to injury. The Giants host Wakefield Trinity at the John Smith’s Stadium in the fourth round of the Challenge Cup this afternoon and they do so without a host of star names.

Adam Clune, Tom Burgess and Jacob Gagai all drop out this week, with the former being ruled out for a couple of months with a fresh issue. Clune’s absence means Liam Sutcliffe has been selected in the scrum-half position for this afternoon’s clash.

The former Hull FC man will partner Tui Lolohea in the pivots with the Tonga international returning to the side after feeling unwell last week at Wigan Warriors.

Taane Milne makes his first Giants start after coming off the bench to play in the pack last week. He starts at centre and looks set to play on the inside shoulder of Adam Swift, while Sam Halsall makes a return to action on the other flank.

Aidan McGowan gets the nod at full-back in Gagai’s absence, while Matty English has overcome a shoulder issue to claim a spot on the bench.

Wakefield boss Daryl Powell has made just one change to the side that beat Warrington Wolves last time out, with Matty Russell being replaced on the wing by Lachlan Walmsley, who will be keen to make his mark in the side.

Huddersfield Giants: Aidan McGowan; Adam Swift, Taane Milne, Jake Bibby, Sam Halsall; Tui Lolohea, Liam Sutcliffe; Fenton Rogers, Ashton Golding, Oliver Wilson; Sam Hewitt, Jack Murchie; Leroy Cudjoe.

Bench: Tom Deakin, Harry Rushton, Matty English, George Flanagan.
