Huddersfield Giants v Wakefield Trinity: Preview

Huddersfield Giants v Wakefield Trinity

Huddersfield and Wakefield face off in this 8pm kick-off at the John Smith’s Stadium eager to bounce back after defeats in their last game. Trinity were unlucky in their first round 12-8 defeat at the hands of Hull FC as they worked hard but came away with nothing. The Giants have played two games this season after playing their round 11 fixture at home against Salford last Thursday night, losing 30-20. They did however win away at Widnes on the opening weekend 28-16.

Giants head coach Rick Stone admitted that Salford deserved the win last week saying: “It was pretty disappointing, I think we just got beat by a hungrier team to be honest. They (Wakefield) have got a big, skilful pack. All their players have got a good skill set, they have picked up Sam Williams and I know what he can do. We have got to concentrate on our game and we are really happy with the support we got from the Huddersfield fans and we want to repay them a little bit and make sure they keep coming back.”

Meanwhile Wakefield boss Chris Chester hopes his side will aim to give away fewer penalties whilst attempting to break down their opponents at the John Smiths Stadium. “Our performance against Hull was pleasing and our completion rate was up around the 75 per cent mark, in them conditions I think we can be happy with those figures.” Chester added: “We are obviously disappointed that we conceded late on, we just need to be a little bit smarter in the ruck against Huddersfield and I think we can cause them a lot of problems.”
