Huddersfield Giants are flying high in 2022.
The West Yorkshire club are finally fulfilling the potential that they promised last season before injuries derailed their campaign.
Sat comfortably inside the top four having tested St Helens on Easter Monday whilst looking ahead to a Challenge Cup semi-final, things couldn’t be much more rosy for the Giants as we enter an important part of the season.
Many expect the Giants to continue their good form throughout this period such is the calibre of their squad with new signings, big names and developing talent all catching the eye so far in 2022. One of those developing stars is young winger/centre Innes Senior who today has signed a new deal with the club.
Senior burst onto the scene with twin Louis back in 2018 both immediately underlining their attacking potential with plenty of tries.
Innes has spent time at Workington and Wakefield on loan improving and is now a regular in Ian Watson’s side even scoring the equaliser against Leeds in the Giants’ unthinkable comeback against the Rhinos over Easter as they came back from 10 points down to snatch a point away at their rivals.
Then on Monday, he and brother Louis shone against the Saints with some solid edge defence against a dangerous St Helens side.
His new deal keeps him at the club until the end of 2024 and Senior is very excited by the prospect.
He said on the Giants website: “I’m delighted to sign a new deal to keep me at Huddersfield Giants. I want to continue developing and improving my game at the Giants and I hope to continue on the path I’ve started since I made my debut here.
“It’s great to continue my career at my hometown club and I’m looking forward to continuing to compete for a starting spot.”
Whilst Head Coach Ian Watson added: “It’s great to secure the services of Innes Senior until the end of the 2024 Season. Innes has grown from strength to strength in his time as a Giants player and has grown his confidence and his ability in his time at the club and has been rewarded with a new contract.
“It’s great to see so many young players who have progressed through the Giants system staying with the club and helping us build.
“He has been exceptional this season and we’re looking forward to seeing how he progresses over the next two years.”
