Huddersfield Giants duo Fenton Rogers and Connor Carr have joined up with Bradford Bulls for the next two weeks.
First-team opportunities for the pair have been few and far between at the John Smith’s Stadium and they have been allowed to join up with the Championship title chasers for the next fortnight.
Both players are more than familiar with Odsal, with Rogers spending a season and a half with the Bulls over the 2023 and 2024 seasons and Carr enjoying a brief spell with the club last season. As such, they’ll be keen to settle back in quickly and help Bradford push on towards the top of the division.
As things stand, Brian Noble’s side are third in the Championship, but they have the opportunity to put some pressure on leaders Toulouse Olympique over the next two weeks with games coming up against challengers York Knights and Oldham.
Huddersfield Giants pair loaned out
Rogers hasn’t played for the Giants since April 13 due to a broken foot but he made nine appearances over the opening months of the campaign. He’ll be looking to pick up some valuable minutes then, alongside Carr, who made his debut for the Giants earlier this year and has gone on to make three appearances in claret and gold.
Director of rugby Andy Kelly explained the decision to send both men to Odsal, with Huddersfield only being able to name a 20-man squad for this week’s clash with Wigan Warriors.
“Fenton is highly regarded at the club,” Kelly told the Giants website. “After returning to training, we feel it is right for his development to regain his match fitness at a club competing at the very top of the Championship.”
On Carr, he added: “Connor has been playing in the reserves as of late, but we feel its more beneficial for him to be playing in a team at the top of the Championship, where he is familiar with the team and coaching staff too.”
Their exits follow Aidan McGowan’s loan move to Batley Bulldogs.
