Huddersfield Giants secure Danny Levi replacement as former star returns

Huddersfield have found their replacement for Danny Levi after they announced the hooker’s departure on compassionate grounds.

Levi is expected to sign for Canberra Raiders in the NRL after staring for Samoa in the World Cup.

But now his replacement at Huddersfield has been confirmed in the shape of Nathan Peats.

Peats has played for the Giants before doing so in 2021 when he left Leigh on loan to join the Giants and would have stayed had the Giants had the quota spots available.

Instead he went to play in the French Elite One Championship prior to joining Toulouse in Super League.

Now he takes up a two-year deal with the Giants going into 2023 as the State of Origin hooker takes the Giants’ last quota spot for 2023 as he also completes an amazing spine which will include the likes of Jake Connor too, Tui Lolohea and Theo Fages.

He will also face competition for the hooker spot from Adam O’Brien and Ash Golding after both enjoyed great seasons and often did well off the bench alongside Levi.

O’Brien at times even started ahead of Levi so it will be a competitive push for the number nine jersey from the three men as well as young hooker George Roby who was crowned League 1 Young Player of the Year recently.
