Huddersfield Giants have made six signings ahead of the 2025 Super League season and we’ve assessed their new recruits.
Whilst plenty of teams have signed more players than Huddersfield, few clubs will have recruited as many players who look set to walk straight into the starting 13.
Of Huddersfield Giants’ six signings, it could be argued that all six make Luke Robinson’s strongest thirteen – particularly the four NRL recruits that the club have made.
Spearheading those signings is England international Tom Burgess with the prop forward’s move announced back in February – before the 2024 Super League season had even started.
Since then Huddersfield have seen a coaching change with Luke Robinson taking over and the ‘Robbolution’, as the Giants have dubbed it, has seen a further five recruits.
We’ve assessed each of the clubs signings ahead of the 2025 season.
How Huddersfield Giants’ 2025 signings stack up
Starting with the domestic recruitment and the Giants have signed just two players from Super League with one man coming from each of Hull FC and Hull KR.
Liam Sutcliffe and George King have joined in positions of need with Huddersfield losing centres Esan Marsters and Kevin Naiqama, whilst King adds bulk to a pack that has also lost Chris Hill, Seb Ikahihifo and Hugo Salabio.
Unfortunately for the Giants, King suffered a freak accident in training meaning he’s set to miss the early part of the campaign but both signings are experienced Super League-level players who can certainly add to the club.
As for their NRL recruitment and Tom Burgess speaks for himself with the England international likely to be one of Super League’s best forwards in 2025. He’s also served as a huge attraction for other NRL recruits, namely his former South Sydney Rabbitohs teammates Taane Milne and Jacob Gagai – both of whom have signed for 2025.
Fiji international Milne is an excellent replacement at centre but also showed his ability to play in the pack when starring at the Pacific Championships, whilst Gagai has been brought in to play full-back following the departure of Jake Connor.
Milne brings a lot more NRL experience but Gagai had a strong maiden campaign in the NRl and has come with clear intent to play full-back and help turn the Giants’ fortunes around.
He will anchor a spine that also sees Zac Woolford join with the former Canberra Raiders man set to be the Giants’ first choice number nine in 2025. At 28, he is in his prime and the 39-game NRL man will be a major addition as the Giants aim to return to the play-offs for the first time since 2022.
