Huddersfield Giants are offering free tickets to their fans ahead of their fixture against Catalans Dragons in August.
It is well-documented that the Giants’ attendance is one of the worst in Super League, so offering fans the chance to go watch the game free of charge is them pulling out all the stops to try and increase crowd numbers.
The afternoon is set to be a monumental one, with the club set to announce “what is possibly the biggest announcement in the club’s 162-year history.”
The game will take place on Saturday 8th August at 2pm, and it is the second time that the Giants have done this, having offered fans the same incentive against Catalans just under 20 years ago.
Huddersfield are said to have a number of locations available to them when they leave the Accu Stadium next year, with Dewsbury’s FLAIR Stadium thought to be the leading candidate.

After the announcement, Ken Davy OBE, who recently stepped away as chairman of the club, said: “The pressure to find a new stage for the 2027 season hasn’t been enjoyable, but I am now relaxed and very confident that next season will be very special indeed.
“We want to get as many people to the Catalans game as possible so I would like to offer an extended invite to everyone across Kirklees to join us, free of charge, at the Accu Stadium to witness this momentous announcement.”
Ralph Rimmer OBE, who has stepped into Davy’s role as executive chairman, said: “Despite extensive talks with the local authority, all avenues for an easily developable site within the town perimeter have been exhausted within the necessary timeframe.
“However, the vision for the Giants remains the same: a consistently dominant Super League force, both on and off the field producing sell-out crowds in its own venue.
“They say that you should never miss the opportunity in a crisis and the Giants have had to grab the nettle to make this happen. We are striving to deliver elite Super League experiences to our fans, commercial partners and the rest of the competition and believe that when our plans are revealed, then all will be impressed and excited by our Giant future.”
