Huddersfield Giants have announced a contract extension for club legend Leroy Cudjoe with the 36-year-old set to play on in 2025.
The announcement was made just before the Giants’ Magic Weekend game against Castleford Tigers with interim coach Luke Robinson and the club confirming the news.
Cudjoe has had a brilliant season so far after making the shift from centre into the forward pack, often alternating between the second-row and the loose forward position.
The 36-year-old has made a whopping 582 tackles in his 16 appearances, averaging over 36 a game which is among the very elite in Super League.
With the news of his contract extension, it means he is now set to enter his 18th season as a Huddersfield Giants player which could see him make his 400th appearance for the club.
It had also been reported earlier on Sky Sports’ coverage of Magic Weekend that Leigh Leopards centre Ricky Leutele would return to the Giants in 2025.
Huddersfield Giants tie down Cudjoe for 2025
The news of Cudjoe’s contract extension was announced by Huddersfield Giants who released a statement confirming the new deal.
It read: “Modern day Giants Legend Leroy Cudjoe pens an extension that will see him remain a Giant until the end of 2025.
“After another stellar season in the Claret and Gold, Leroy Cudjoe remains a Giant for his 17th professional season after debuting back in 2008.
“Since then, the utility man has provided value and quality to the Giants wherever he has played on the pitch, amassing over 350 professional appearances and 135 tries for Huddersfield.
“A model professional, Leroy always gives his all for the badge, and is someone who many young Giants reference when coming through the Giants pathway system.”
Cudjoe said: “I am delighted to have re-signed again for 2025, Mentally and physically I feel really good so the decision to carry on playing was an easy one. I’m honoured to be able to wear the shirt of my hometown club for another season and very determined to help the club improve and reach its potential.
“The year hasn’t gone as we’d expected which is very disappointing, but the focus now is to finish the year off well.
I’d like to thank the club for getting the deal done, the fans and sponsors for always sticking by us and hope we can finish the year off well for you.”
