Huddersfield Giants interim boss awaiting interview as head coach search continues

Huddersfield Giants interim coach Liam Finn has revealed that he has not yet held talks with the club’s higher ups in regards to becoming their permanent head coach.

Finn has been in charge for just under a month following the sacking of Luke Robinson in March. In that time, he has led the club to two wins from two and has seen a number of players recover from injury.

The club when they announced Robinson’s exit that expressions of interested needed to be submitted to the club by March 28th, with interviews taking place shortly after.

Finn, who has been a head coach at Dewsbury and Halifax in the past, has openly stated he wants to be Super League head coach role at some point in his career and would welcome talks from the board should they wish to look internally for their next head coach.

However, speaking in his weekly press conference, the former half-back was asked whether any conversations had taken place between him and the board, to which he revealed: “No, I haven’t, no.

“To be honest, I don’t really know the process of what happens in this situation.

“I’m just comfortable knowing that I’m trying to do my job to the best of my ability and they will come and speak to me whenever they’re going through whatever the process is and if they need to speak to me, so I’ll just wait and take their lead on that.

“It’s something that I’ve been clear on. It is a goal of mine to be a head coach in Super League, so yes, it is something that I’m definitely interested in.”
