It’s one in and one out at Huddersfield Giants today, with the club confirming the signing of Jake Arthur from Hull FC and the exit of a fellow overseas player.
Arthur joins the Giants on a two-year deal, after he was released from his contract at the Black and Whites a season earlier than expected.
The playmaker becomes the third spine player Huddersfield have signed, following the additions of Kruise Leeming and Jeylan Hodgson in the hooker department. Jaimin Jolliffe has also agreed a deal with the club.
At 23, Arthur has already made over 100 senior appearances, and with his father, Brad, also residing in West Yorkshire, it is a move that suits all parties.
“This is a very exciting signing in my opinion!” Director of Rugby Andy Kelly said. “I feel that the way Jim Lenihan is setting us up to play, Jake fits that mould. He’s a controlling half and a fantastic addition. He’s ready to make a statement and we’ll give him the platform and the stage to do just that.”

Huddersfield Giants lose Jacob Gagai to Super League rivals
The Giants have also lost one of their more influential players, with centre Jacob Gagai making the move to Warrington Wolves.
Gagai has also agreed a two-year deal, and will reunite with Sam Burgess, after the pair worked together at the South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Scoring seven tries in 17 games for the Bunnies, the 30-year-old has spent the past two seasons at the Accu Stadium, and is thought to take the place of Toby King, who has departed to join London Broncos.
“‘Gags’ is a real competitor and a high-quality centre, so we are delighted to have him on board next year,” Burgess told the Wire club website.
“He has been a consistent performer for Huddersfield and is a real line-break and offload threat, and scores tries. We’re looking forward to welcoming him and his family to the club.”
