Huddersfield Giants have confirmed a double injury blow ahead of this Sunday’s clash with St Helens at the John Smith’s Stadium. The Giants have little left to play for at this stage of the Super League season, but they will play their last four games without both Sam Halsall and Jake Connor.
The pair have been ruled out of for the remainder of the season and consequently have dropped out of the fold for this weekend’s game against the Saints. Connor has picked up a knee injury, while Halsall requires surgery on a wrist issue.
Luke Robinson has been able to welcome Joe Greenwood and Adam Clune back into the fold, though, this weekend in what is an obvious bit of positive news. Greenwood had been missing with a pec problem, while Clune had been out since the start of August.
It comes as St Helens welcome Morgan Knowles back into contention after serving a two-game ban this month. The forward’s availability comes as a big boost for the Saints who will be without Tommy Makinson, who serves the first game of his own two match ban.
Alex Walmsley has been named in the fold after missing last week’s loss against Hull KR with an injury picked up while playing with his children in the garden. However, it remains to be seen whether he will be ready to make Paul Wellens’ 17-man squad. Agnatius Paasi and Sione Mata’utia have made the cut, too, despite carrying ‘bumps and bruises.
Elsewhere, Leeds Rhinos chief Brad Arthur has named an unchanged 21-man squad and has the luxury of being able to name an unchanged line up to take on London Broncos for the first time this season.
London, on the other hand, have made one change with Dan Hoyes coming in for Harry Stevens, while Bill Leyland, Matt Davies, Alex Walker, Jordan Williams, James Meadows, Dean Parata and Jack Hughes miss out through injury.
