Huddersfield Giants confirm club captain and vice skipper for 2023 after shake up following veteran’s exit

Michael Lawrence has left the Huddersfield Giants after giving himself to the club fr over a decade and becoming a legendary figure for the West Yorkshire club.

He joins Leeds Rhinos duo Jack Walker and Bodene Thompson at Bradford Bulls as they prepare for a big 2023 season.

This has seen Leroy Cudjoe replace him as club captain as revealed by another Giants legend tonight Erol Crabtree at a fan event.

Meanwhile, Luke Yates will remain the captain on the field whilst former St Helens man Theo Fages acting as his vice skipper for the new season.

Yates did a terrific job in the role last year and will be supported by the serial winner Fages in the 2023 season who knows how to get to big games and win them having won three major finals with St Helens.

Meanwhile it will be a huge honour for Cudjoe to act as the club’s club captain taking over from Lawrence following his move.

As Cudjoe enters the twilight of his career may not play so much in 2023 especially after the Giants have bought in some star centres in the shape of Esan Marster, Kevin Naiqama and Jake Bibby from Wigan Warriors as well as his teammate from Wigan Sam Halsall, but will still act as the club’s official skipper as Yates, likely to play every game when fit, will lead the side week to week.
