Huddersfield Giants have re-signed a former academy graduate to their side, after he departed to join the Championship last season.
Winger Matty Hanley will re-join Jim Lenihan’s Claret and Gold outfit for the rest of the season, after spending 2025 at Midlands Hurricanes.
The speedster came through the ranks with huge potential, and featured for Yorkshire in the academy Origin series back in 2023.
Prior to his exit from the club, he was a mainstay in Huddersfield’s academy and reserve games, and this season has seen him feature in select appearances for the reserves.
Leaving West Yorkshire without a senior appearance, he will now link up with the first team in the hope of finally landing that maiden Super League bout.
Last season saw him play 13 games for Midlands in the Championship, and in that time he scored seven tries.

Commenting on his return, Hanley said: “I’m really happy to be back at a club that feels like home. I’m looking forward to getting back to it at a club I know and love.”
Director of Rugby, Andy Kelly, added: “The club are happy to welcome Matty Hanley back after serving his time with the scholarship and Academy.
“Matty wants to explore more the working life outside of Rugby League, but didn’t realise how much he would miss the competitive side of his life.
“Matty still has big ambitions in the game, and we are happy to facilitate the next couple of seasons on that route. We feel Matty’s great potential and look forward to working with him again.”
