Huddersfield fail in bid to recall Grix

Huddersfield Giants v Wakefield Trinity

Huddersfield Giants have failed in an attempt to recall Scott Grix from his loan spell at Halifax.

The 35-year-old made the move to The Shay to play under his brother Simon after playing second fiddle to Darnell McIntosh for the first part of the season.

With a lengthy injury list and their place in Super League still not secure, The Giants were keen on bringing him back for the run-in but were unable to due to registration restrictions.

“They wanted to recall him, but he didn’t go back,” Halifax boss Simon Grix explained after his side’s win at home to Rochdale on Sunday.

“They thought because they are his parent club they could terminate his loan, but that’s not how it works and the deadline has passed.

“He didn’t train Tuesday or Friday because of the confusion, so he didn’t play today, but he’ll be available for us next week.”
