Huddersfield have signed Halifax hooker Brandon Moore on a loan deal until the end of the season.
The 24-year-old has been a standout member of Simon Grix’s side in recent seasons, playing 67 games since joining the club in 2016 from Castleford, where he made making three senior appearances after coming through the Tigers’ academy system.
With Adam O’Brien out for the rest of the season with a neck injury, Moore significantly bolsters Huddersfield’s depth at hooker.
“We’re really excited to have Brandon be a part of the squad and extremely happy to bring him in before deadline day,” said Giants interim head coach Luke Robinson. “The reason we’re bringing him in is due to the injury to Adam O’Brien leaving us light in that position – bringing someone in to give us a little bit more depth in that position.
“I’ve seen him on numerous occasions: watching lots of Halifax in the Championship and and coaching Siddal U10’s side with Simon Grix. I speak to him quite regularly and he has nothing but praise for Brandon.
“I feel that he fits in with the qualities we want in the club; his work ethic is second to none, he’s a quality defender, he’s fit as a fiddle and he’s a good lad. By bringing us those qualities, he’ll make us a better squad and will provide depth around our pivots in case we pick up any injuries.”
Halifax head coach Simon Grix added: “We as a club see this as a scenario where everybody wins. Unfortunately for Adam O’Brien he will miss the remainder of the season leaving them in a position where they need another hooker.
“It is obviously an opportunity for Brandon to get back out on the field and hopefully fulfil a dream of playing Super League. We get to help our dual-registration partner out and we get him back better for the experience ready for the 2021 season.”
