Wigan Warriors host Leigh Leopards tonight at the Brick Community Stadium in a rare Tuesday night Super League game.
The fixture has had to be squeezed into the schedule after initially being postponed in Round Two when Wigan Warriors took on Penrith Panthers in the World Club Challenge.
St Helens had the same situation in 2023 when they contested the World Club Challenge against Penrith, however, they missed their Round One clash with Huddersfield.
For Saints, rearranging the fixture was easy enough because they didn’t progress to the Challenge Cup Final which meant they simply played on that same weekend.
However, with Wigan Warriors progressing to and eventually winning the Challenge Cup Final, no free weekend was made available which has forced Super League into the unprecedented situation of forcing each club to play three games in less than 11 days.
Both sides played on Thursday night and Wigan will play again on Saturday, whilst Leigh plays Hull FC on Sunday, meaning they’ll each play three games in ten and eleven days respectively.
