How to watch rugby league on TV this week including Hull KR and NRL season launch

Super League coverage

Rugby League is back with a bang this week with five games set to be broadcast this weekend including Challenge Cup and NRL action.

We’re just a week away from the Super League season starting but Super League clubs are in competitive action this weekend as they enter the Challenge Cup.

Round Three has seen all 12 Super League sides drawn away from home against lower league opposition and there will be one match broadcast on each of Friday, Saturday and Sunday featuring three teams from the top flight.

The NRL pre-season also begins ahead of Round One when four sides will head to Las Vegas along with Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves.

In total, that means there are five games available for rugby league fans to watch with the action getting underway early on Friday morning before concluding on Sunday afternoon.

The two NRL pre-season games will be aired on Sky Sports+ with both matches kicking off at 8:30 am, albeit one on Friday and one on Saturday.

Cronulla Sharks will host New Zealand Warriors on Friday morning before NRL champions Penrith Panthers host Canberra Raiders on Saturday with all four teams set to compete in Las Vegas three weeks later.

After watching the Sharks and Warriors on Friday morning, fans won’t have to wait long for their next rugby league fix as the game between York Knights and Hull KR will be streamed live on the Sportsman Rugby League YouTube channel that night.

Kick-off is at 8 pm with Willie Peters’ side looking to avenge their Amsterdam Challenge loss and it’s fair to say the Australian has named the strongest side he possibly could have.

As for Saturday’s action, Halifax Panthers host Catalans Dragons with the French side looking to start their season with a bang after missing the play-offs in 2024. That game will also be streamed live on the Sportsman.

Onto Sunday’s  Challenge Cup action and we’re back to the BBC as Castleford Tigers travel to Odsal to face Bradford Bulls in what many are touting as possibly the upset of the round.

Cas coach Danny McGuire is all too aware of that with the Tigers boss warning of a potential “ambush” as he called on his side to be much-improved from their two pre-season losses.
