How the Challenge Cup second and third rounds look as ties cleared up and Hull KR learn fate

Challenge Cup

Castleford-based community club Lock Lane have secured a third round Challenge Cup clash against holders Hull KR next month.

Lock Lane beat Brighouse Rangers 42-6 in the first round on Saturday afternoon to secure their progression, with the club being given a bye in the next round of the competition. That is because the winner of their tie was drawn to face Featherstone Rovers in the second round of the Cup.

Featherstone won’t be taking part in the 2026 season, of course, having seen their application for a membership rejected by the RFL and that means Lock Lane can now look forward to a third round cup tie against Willie Peters’ treble winners.

That tie will be played over the weekend of February 6-8 but it remains to be seen whether Lock Lane will be able to host the game, with a switch to Craven Park or neutral territory a possibility at this stage.

West Hull claimed a dominant 42-12 win over King Cross Park and that sets up a second round tie against Dewsbury Rams. Oldham or Orrell St James will be waiting for the winner of that clash in the third round.

London Chargers saw off Telford Raiders 38-18 and they’ll now head to The Shay next week to take on Halifax Panthers. Mirfield Spartans beat Woodhouse Warriors 36-4 and Goole Vikings await them in the next round.

Ince Rose Bridge edged out Rochdale Mayfield in a highly competitive fixture, with the Wiganers winning 18-12. They’ll face Swinton Lions next weekend.

Wigan St Judes will take on Barrow Raiders in the second round after beating Leigh Miners Rangers 17-12, while Stanningley play Championship side Hunslet after squeezing past Dewsbury Moor.

Those rearranged games mean there is just one more first round game to be played with Siddal hosting Waterhead Warriors for the right to take on Rochdale Hornets in round two.

However, the results mean that the second round of the Challenge Cup is a lot less crowded with all but one tie now set. The draw for the third round of the competition is also clearer with Super League clubs a step closer to learning their fate.

Here’s a look at this weekend’s first round results and how the second and third round draws currently look.
