How Hull KR could line up against Wakefield Trinity amid Dean Hadley loss and Mikey Lewis concern

Hul

With injury concerns to some of their key men, a very different Hull KR side could be named this week, as they look to bounce back from their Challenge Cup Final defeat.

The Robins were downed 40-10 at Wembley by Wigan Warriors, who took home a record-extending 22nd Challenge Cup trophy.

Peta Hiku scored two tries, but it would be an afternoon to forget for the Robins, whose attention now turns to a trip to Wakefield Trinity on Saturday afternoon.

However, they will head to Belle Vue with a number of worries about some key players, and as a result, it could mean a shuffled side taking on Daryl Powell’s men this week.

Hull KR injury concerns as squad predicted to face Wakefield Trinity

Dean Hadley:

One man we know will definitely be out of this week’s game is back rower Hadley, who was taken from the field for a HIA just three minutes into the Cup Final.

He failed that assessment and didn’t return, and that forced a reshuffle in the pack, meaning the other forwards had to do more work than they usually would have to.

With Hadley out, a replacement could be as simple as Rhyse Martin joining the starting 13 as opposed to coming off the bench, but that still leaves Peters with a bench spot to fill.

Jack Brown has left the club this week, so that means that at least two changes will have to be made from the Wembley line-up.

Mikey Lewis:

A third change could be on the horizon, but that depends on whether half-back Mikey Lewis is deemed fit enough to feature.

After being injured in the first half at Wembley, the England international hobbled around the field to complete the game, and that could mean that he has done more damage than he would have had he come off the pitch.

Should Lewis not be fit, KR have a number of options, with Jack Charles and Ryan Hampshire the likely candidates. Jez Litten could also move there, leaving Kyle Lawton and Bill Leyland to take on the hooking role.

Jai Whitbread:

The Australian missed the Final last week due to the birth of his child, but before that he was already a doubt due to injury. Whitbread is expected to return to face his former club, but there is some uncertainty as to whether he will be fit enough to make the 17.

Should he not make the squad, Tevita Pangai Jr could be in line for a debut after signing a couple of weeks ago, and Jordan Dezaria could also be in with a shout.

Hull KR predicted side to face Wakefield Trinity: Jack Broadbent, Tom Davies, Peta Hiku, Oliver Gildart, Joe Burgess, Ryan Hampshire, Tyrone May, Sauaso Sue, Karl Lawton, Tom Amone, Rhyse Martin, James Batchelor, Elliot Minchella

Bench: Jez Litten, Sam Luckley, Jai Whitbread, Tevita Pangai Jr
