How every Super League club’s official IMG score compares to 2023

Super League IMG

The first-ever official IMG scores are in but how does every Super League club stack up compared to their provisional grades from 2023.

It is almost a year to the day that we learned the provisional grades of all the professional rugby league clubs with some shock names scheduled to be in Super League.

Among those was Toulouse Olympique who ranked 10th whereas promoted London Broncos sat in a lowly 24th.

Today, the official grades that will dictate which twelve teams make up Super League have been confirmed so we have compared and contrasted the official scores heading into 2025 with those that were provisionally handed out this time last year.

There has been a big shake-up near the top of the list as well as an extra two Grade A clubs in total despite one side losing that provisional Grade A status.

We’ve now looked at every Super League team for 2025 and checked out how their rank compared in 2023’s provisional grades, indicated in brackets.

How every Super League team’s IMG grade compared to 2023

12th: Salford Red Devils 13.97 – (8th – 13.80)

Despite gaining points and pushing towards 14 points, Salford actually drop a massive four rankings with the Red Devils just making it into Super League for the 2025 season.

11th: Huddersfield Giants 14.51 (9th – 13.49)

Whilst Huddersfield gain over a point, they actually slip down the rankings which showcases just how much work some of the other Super League teams have put in.

10th: Hull FC 14.51 (7th – 15.05)

It was widely expected that Hull FC would lose their Grade A rank and that has now been confirmed with the Black and Whites losing out on half a point and slipping three places.

9th: Castleford Tigers 15.02 ( 13th* – 12.16)

Castleford Tigers had controversy last year when they misreported data to leave them outside the top 12. Despite flagging that issue, their rank remained unchanged. They’ve more than made up this year after just sneaking into Grade A status.

8th: Wakefield Trinity 15.09 (11th – 12.52)

Winning the Championship Grand Final on Saturday night and earning the 0.25 bonus that it brings has seen Trinity also sneak a Grade A with the club gaining over 2.5 points in a year.

7th: Leigh Leopards 15.13 (12th* – 12.45)

Derek Beaumont confidently predicted that his side would be a Grade A side and that is the case. Their rank of 12 last year was actually in jeopardy given Castleford’s incorrect score but the club doubled down and earned a Grade A.

6th: Catalans Dragons 15.52 (4th – 16.73)

Catalans are one of the biggest losers, dropping from 4th to 6th but also losing over one point. Some of that comes due to performance as they saw their 2021 Grand Final appearance replaced by a seventh-placed finish in 2024.

5th: Hull KR 15.97 (6th – 15.52)

Despite making it to the Grand Final and packing out their stadium every week, Hull KR only rise ne place and less than half a point.

4th: Warrington Wolves 16.27 (5th – 15.75)

Sam Burgess’ first year in charge has seen Warrington improve on the field but also off the field with Wire gaining half a point and moving up one spot.

3rd: Leeds Rhinos 16.84 (1st – 17.49)

Leeds Rhinos are another of the biggest losers, dropping almost 0.75 points and slipping from clear first to third.

2nd: Wigan Warriors 16.91 (2nd – 16.87)

They might have gained 0.35 points on performance but Wigan have seen their score only increase by 0.04 points. If they fail to repeat their Challenge Cup and Super League wins in 2025 then they will lose up to one whole point so they may have to look to off-field avenues to score higher.

1st: St Helens 17.02 (3rd – 16.78)

St Helens have jumped almost a quarter of a point despite one of their poorest seasons in memory but their off-field work has clearly paved the way for them to earn the highest IMG grade of any Super League side.
