Hollywood star Russell Crowe’s heart warming message to British under 12s team

Despite being widely known for his amazing Hollywood career starring in the likes of Man of Steel and Gladiator, Russell Crowe has a huge affinity with rugby league.

Co-owner of South Sydney Rabbitohs in the NRL since 2006, he’s helped establish the Bunnies as a consistent threat to the top of the table down under including winning the NRL in 2014 and reaching the Grand Final last season.

He’s always strived to take rugby league to a wider audience too using his appearance in Man of Steel to create hype around both NRL and Super League fixtures with special Superman themed kits given to the likes of Leeds Rhinos and Wigan Warriors.

He also arranged a brilliant friendly between South Sydney and Leeds Rhinos in 2008 in America which helped spark wider interest for our great game across the pond.

A great lover of rugby league and someone who wants to see it grow, so it should come as no surprise to see him building up the next generation of talent with a lovely message for Wigan St Jude’s under 12s who are set to play in their first cup final come July 17th.

The video was circulated by the Wigan Hub after it was sent by Crowe himself containing an inspiring message for the youngsters.

He said: “So Wigan St Jude’s under 12s, I’ve heard the big news that you’ve made the cup final on the 17th.

“You’ve got plenty of time to prep and get some miles into your legs. Listen to your coach and get ready for the big day. Congratulations.”

Perhaps his message will inspire them not only to a great performance but perhaps to going on and being some of the stars of the future.
